dates

Dates a sweet, edible fruit that grow on the flowering date palm tree.

Why is it good for my body? Dates are a very good source of dietary potassium. Dates are high in natural sugar, making them a perfect snack for energy.
Where does it come from? Date palms are cultivated across northern Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, and in other tropical and sub-tropical regions throughout the world. Fun fact: date trees can reach up to 70 feet in height!
What are ways to eat it? Dry or soft dates can be eaten out of hand, or pitted and stuffed with fillings. Dates can be used in a variety of sweet and savory dishes, but our favorite way to used them at the Dr. Yum Project Kitchen is in our Energy Bites!
